About Evelyn O'Brien Burns

Evelyn O'Brien Burns works with painting and drawing. Her 2019 series Visceral Viscera was presented in Monash University's fine art exhibition.

Visceral Viscera explores the human form caught in metamorphosis. In these three large oil paintings, controlled lines break into looser passages, shifting between small anatomical details and the body as a whole.

The series draws on subconscious impulses and desire. It brings discomfort and beauty together, asking what happens when conscious control gives way to instinct.
